Growing geopolitical instability, international conflicts, cyberattacks, and unconventional warfare are shaping new defence strategies and priorities. As the pace of innovation accelerates, it is imperative to stay ahead of the curve to strategise conflict prevention, accelerate innovation on the battlefield, modernise defence programmes, and increase production rates to stay safe in the modern world.
Altair is a defence solutions leader, combining deep engineering and production knowledge with a proven track record of delivering open solutions based on the convergence of data analytics, the industrial internet of things (IIoT), digital twin technology, high-performance computing (HPC), and data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI).
Take advantage of an open, interoperable engineering environment. Support engineering teams, sustainment digitalisation, operations, and manufacturing while avoiding vendor lock-in. Manage the complete product life cycle with testing requirements, data flows and libraries, and tools to accelerate development using Altair’s digital thread technology. Streamline maintenance and prevent equipment failure using industry-leading simulation software.
Information makes the difference in unpredictable circumstances. Deploy Altair's industry-leading data analytics and AI-powered technology to prioritise innovation, increase mission readiness, and plan for sustainment. Our simulation and advanced manufacturing tools streamline the manufacturing process and enable on-demand spare parts production on the battlefield, improving production quality while advanced digital twins enable predictive and prescriptive maintenance.
Battlefield readiness requires time-sensitive decisions based on the most up-to-date information for known and what-if conditions. Altair’s HPC solutions speed up compute time, synergise with simulation to evaluate numerous system variations, and unlock results quickly for leadership to leverage. Scalable HPC ensures clusters run efficiently and prioritise the most critical workloads. With workload and licence management solutions, cloud bursting, and more, users can gain and maintain an optimal compute environment with the highest possible security standards.
Intelligence is a mission-critical asset on the battlefield. Maintaining situational awareness, communication, and operational and signal jamming effectiveness requires full control of the electromagnetic spectrum.
Altair delivers unique AI-powered defence solutions to design and optimise resilient voice and data communication systems, analyse and minimise electromagnetic signatures, and boost electronic warfare capabilities. Users can manage very large electrical domains to gain unique insights into the battlefield; predict radar and communication ranges, interference, and detectability; and enable network-centric warfare. Secure, effective software is a requirement for government initiatives such as command-and-control and electromagnetic battle management systems.
Data is a strategic asset for military readiness, operational effectiveness, and informed decision-making – but it’s limited by the interoperability of data generated and analysed by various systems, platforms, and domains. Additionally, sharing data securely among industry partners, government agencies, and international allies is a complex challenge.
Altair empowers military leaders to make better data-driven decisions with a cybersafe platform for AI-powered data extraction, preparation, orchestration, analysis, and visualisation. Our data analytics solutions combine sources and formats to deliver critical insight when users need it.
Fast-paced changes to technology require constant learning and upskilling. Competition in specialty fields like cybersecurity, engineering, and AI means employee retention is key to success.
With Altair defence solutions, teams get the market’s leading AI-powered tools — plus training and certification through Altair® Learning™ to drive upskilling and professional growth. In the Altair Community, Altair experts help solve users’ unique challenges and foster collaborative problem-solving.
Advanced electronic systems for field communications, systems targeting, threat detection, asset tracking, health monitoring, and theatre operations require multiple high-fidelity antennas and interference-free integration within devices.
As electronic devices become increasingly complex, printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturers face design and production challenges including higher density, smaller sizes, and more specialised teams. Altair delivers the solutions you need to design, verify, and manage chip design; test for and verify thermal issues; and visualise complex electronic systems. We help users accelerate time to market and reduce development and manufacturing costs with the industry’s fastest workload scheduler.
A defence industry customer requested the development of a finite element method (FEM) analysis methodology to assess the mine resistance of a 14-layer composite in accordance with STANAG 4569. The aim of the study was to obtain information on injury indices for personnel exiting the vehicle based on the criteria described in AEP-55 volume 2 for level 3 mine protection in accordance with STANAG 4569 during the explosion of a full-scale model of a military vehicle hull with an 8 kg TNT charge placed 450 mm from the bottom plate of the exit compartment and to check the resistance of the floor during the detonation of an explosive charge under the driver's seat.
The scope of services offered by Endego included:
The client requested an assessment of an electronic device that is a key component of a defence system. The device had to operate reliably in extreme climatic and geographical conditions and withstand mechanical shocks and vibrations caused by nearby explosions, large temperature fluctuations, hailstorms, and ensure the durability of electronic connections.
Our team developed a comprehensive FEM model of the device and evaluated the structure of its components in accordance with the customer's specific requirements and criteria. Local models were created for different types of simulations, and the results provided by our CAE team served as a basis for key design and technology decisions by the customer's teams.
Let's talkThe customer required an assessment of mechanical and electronic equipment installed on naval vessels for resistance to shock and vibration loads caused by nearby explosions. The challenge was to select energy absorbers that meet NO and BV (Bundeswehrvorschrift) defence standards, where shock and vibration resistance criteria are often contradictory, requiring design optimisation and careful selection of absorbers.
Our team developed a complete FEM model and evaluated the design in accordance with the BV-0430 and NO 20 A500 4 and 5 defence standards. Working closely with the customer's team, the CAE team optimised the design and selected the appropriate type and size of energy absorbers to ensure compliance with the shock and vibration resistance criteria.
